An Analysis on the Implementation of Professional Learning Communities in Malaysian Secondary Schools

The main objective of the study was to examine implementation Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in Malaysian secondary schools. conducted by using quantitative method whereby a total 971 principals, senior assistants and teachers were involved survey. descriptive statistical analysis employed obtain scores means whereas t-test ANOVA adopted test significance concerned variables. result revealed that, i) schools rated as Quite Good practising PLCs; ii) comparing two dimensions PLCs, Organizational Factor achieved higher mean score than Non-organizational Factor; iii) among all sub-dimensions, Principals’ Commitment Support highest External System lowest score. summarized that although contextual factors such decentralized school system, policy environment teachers’ workload are potential might impact development incompetence Collaborative Learning, Collective Inquiry Reflective Dialogue would significantly hinder their professional practices PLCs. offers an exploring PLCs towards sustained improvement may help move current available literature more coherent, theoretical perspective for practical engagement.
